This design is based upon Short Sunderland NS-Z (V6617) “Z for Zebra” of RAF 201 Squadron Coastal Command. This aircraft was on patrol on the night of June 3rd/ 4th, 1945, piloted by the then CO, Wing Commander KR Coates when, at a minute after midnight and some 500 miles southwest of Ireland, it received the order to “cease patrol”. It was RAF Coastal Command’s final operational sortie of the war.
